The owners live in the farmhouse and offer accommodation in two comfortable apartments that each sleep five people and have recently been finely restored and furnished. There is a seating area in the garden with wooden table and chairs and deck-chairs to kick back and relax in as well as a barbecue and mountain-bikes. We are Alessandra and Andrea, with Riccardo and Adriano. We live and work in the country, we love the peace, the silence and the harmony of this earth and we do our best to make our guests feel all of this and take delight in the peculiarities of Galealpe, while respecting the rules of community life and courtesy. | This farm house enjoys an enchanting position, surrounded by the protected area of the St. Antonio Forest. Lavana is located at an altitude of 577 meters and with just a 3 hour walk, one can arrive at 1500 meters, passing by the forests of chestnut and acacia that surround the house, to those of pine and beech, ending in the grasslands at the top of the mountain, in an uncontaminated nature where antique civilazations such as those of the Celts and the Etruscans walked in the distant past and whose presence is witnessed by several archeological finds conserved in the farmhouse. This is a small family run business whose owners will be able to provide every kind of information about the surrounding area, the forests, plants and animals found within and about the historic farmhouse which has been restructured with simplicity and respect for tradition. The farmhouse is about 150 square meters in size and consists of a house in stone of antique origin cited by, among others, Dante Alghieri, with 3 bedrooms each with private baths, a fully equipped kitchen, an ample livingroom where one can choose to sit by the fireplace or watch a bit of satellite tv, and a a reading/music room which provides a relaxing and comfortable sofa bed. In the backyard there is a barbeque where one can cook under a canopy of kiwi plants and relax in the splendid garden; there is also a pool, an alternative to the perhaps even more appealing dips in the waterfall of the Riesco river that runs next to the house. Some 400 meters from the bituminised road, the site remains secluded while accessible only via a private driveway, ensuring that you'll be holidaying in quiet and undisturbed Tuscan countryside. ***Farmhouse MULINELLO. Sleeps six, over 972 square feet. Restored in 1990, it is the result of successive works on the original tower dating back to 17th century. Tucked into the hillside, with perfect views across to Montepulciano, the house is set over two levels. On the ground floor, a lounge with fireplace forms the centre of the house. There are three bedrooms (one double, two twins and both with orthopaedic frames and mattresses) and one bathroom with bath tub. One twin bedroom has en-suite WC. Wooden stairs lead to the upper floor, where there is a large kitchen/dining room with a fireplace for barbecues. Access to the kitchen is also through a terrace equipped with iron chairs and table. The hamlet comprises two separate buildings, Casa Poli and Casa Zanieri. A 1.20 metre deep, 4x7 metre wide swimming pool is available for guests. Casa Poli has three en suite double rooms (La Querce, I Cipressi, Il Mandorlo) and a large shared kitchen with a fireplace. The rooms can be reserved individually as bed and breakfast accommodation, or as a self catering unit. The rustic furniture is for the most part original, in the Florentine country style of the Fifties. Casa Zanieri is made up of two flats (Zafferano and Della Futa), with a spacious kitchen/living area, bathroom and double room. The farmhouse “Al Molino della Luna” was set-up in 2002 when the owners brought the land in their possession (roughly 35.000 square metres) under cultivation again. The buildings which today host the holiday cottages, included the ancient water-mill, were restored only afterwards. The farmhouse is run by the owner Luna Lunardi with the help of her husband Mario Barbi and, when it is possible, of her sons Daniel and Thomas and offers peace, relaxation and privacy to all those who wish to spend their holidays in the green of the countryside. The holiday cottages were recovered with great skill from the building of the old mill and some of its dependence, they are provided with any comforts you may need (as heating, outdoor space with barbecue, satellite TV, Hi-Fi, dishwasher, bed linen, tablecloths and towels as well). Small beds and chairs for children, mountain bikes and ping-pong tables are available on request. Besides being used for growing crops, the farmland also provides wide meadows, an amusement park for children and a beautiful swimming pool were both adults and children may enjoy themselves, play and relax. Small pets are accepted. The location of the farmhouse, which is set in the middle of the Serchio River Valley, is an ideal starting point for walks in the surroundings or for day trips to the Natural Park of the Apuan Alps or to the National Park of the Apennines. From the farmhouse it is, also, easy to get to most of the famous cities and to the main sites of cultural interest. The place gives real meaning to the over-used term retreat as applied to Tuscan rural hideaways. Ankhura is a village house converted into a simple public space with just four bedrooms. It's all fresh and clean, and while certainly comfortable enough, it isn't luxurious. Guests share a large fridge for drinks on the first floor, and in warm weather can eat out on the terrace which overlooks a charming little wooded valley, and leads the eye to the classic Tuscan landscape beyond. This is Italy's best truffle country, and Ankhura's unique selling point is the activities it offers guests: not just cooking classes and wine tours, but truffle hunts with a local tartufaio and his dog. Situated not too far from Pisa-airport, where several airlines (RYANAIR, MY TRAVEL LITE….) operate with low-cost daily flights, the accommodation offers homely comforts, the peacefulness and tranquillity of the country, and at the same time is situated a short drive from the most interesting Tuscan towns: Pisa, Lucca, Volterra, S. Miniato, S. Gimignano, Firenze, Calci can be reached in very short time; Tirrenia, Viareggio, Marina di Pisa by the coast are only a few minutes drive; - Montelupo, the cradle of Tuscan pottery with its famous pottery museum, is at a short drive, the same for the renowned thermal resorts as Casciana Terme, Montecatini Terme, Monsummano Terme, Uliveto Terme with Spa waters to offer lasting health benefits. Characteristic villages, gentle foothills dotted with rows of cypress trees, farm houses, vineyards and olive groves dominate the environment, while the famous road of Chianti D.O.C.G. wine leads to Montespertoli (35 km), with its vineyards, cellars and the Chianti Show, it is one of the Tuscan wine capitals. One of the largest international indoor riding school (named “Lo Scoiattolo”) is opposite, so horse-riding lovers can walk to it. The school also has facilities for children to ride horses and to go ponies trekking etc. For your children: - In Peccioli (15 km), the didactic prehistoric park combines the historical scientific information with an opportunity of entertainment with models, in natural size, of prehistoric animals, that are realistic in all the details. - Collodi (35 km) is famous for the Garzoni Gardens and Villa for its Monumental Park dedicated to Pinocchio where you can find the renowned “ Toys village” New areas are now available for the guests: a sunny renovated building next to the main house, previously used as a hayloft and featuring typical Tuscan-style refined details (wooden roof beams, pin-Spain parquet flooring's, sandstone threshold, period furniture), hosts the ‘yellow bedroom’ (with twin beds) and the ‘green bedroom’ (with a double bed) , each with a private large bathroom and a private entrance ensuring complete privacy. A breakfast hall and car parking place is available for the guests of both bedrooms.
