| A characterful art-filled former monastery in rural Tuscany,in the Maremma region sprawls across 500 hectares of Tuscan hillside, with far-reaching views out to sea. Walking into the reception of Pieve di Caminino is rather like entering a forgotten cathedral, with its soaring arches and lofty windows. Inside, you're greeted with a slightly chaotic wealth of family heirlooms, paintings, musical instruments, religious artefacts, old chests, and hunting trophies scattered on walls, tables and alcoves with seeming abandon. It's worth taking time to stroll around. Accompanied by one of the Marrucchi Locatelli family you will be set off for your quarters. Suites and apartments at Pieve di Caminino are scattered through the estate's collection of old farm buildings. They too retain all the atmosphere of times past, and are filled with antiques and paintings, raftered ceilings, high stone fireplaces (hence the name Caminino) and original tiled floors. Each unit has its own farmhouse kitchen, a wood-burning stove with cosy dining area. Owner Emiliano Marucchi Locatelli and his parents (Signor Marucchi senior is a Leonardo da Vinci lookalike) happily mingle with their guests. The dogs will give you a tour of the estate, filled with over 3,000 olive trees, carp ponds (listen to the frogs croaking) and woodlands. Be sure to soak up the views at sunset from the pool terrace with a glass of local vino as you gaze at Montemassi in the distance. You can also book an Ayurvedic massage and other blissful unwinding treatments here. Breakfast at Pieve di Caminino is generally served in the chandeliered dining room, though it wis nice to have it served in your cosy kitchen on a nippy spring morning. Guests often stay here for weeks at a time, cooking in their suite and treating the place very much as a home from home. | Il Poggiarello and Muralia Vineyards are situated on 120 hectare of farmland in the municipality of Roccastrada, province of Grosseto. The Agriturismo, Il Poggiarello, was opened in 2003 and is managed on a daily basis by the owners/hosts Chiara and Stefano. Very special care is taken of each guest and Chiara is always available to reccomend the best restaurants and attractions in the area for each individual interest. The Agriturismo was created by restoring a 200 year old share croppers lodging which sits in a valley encircled by several Medieval hilltop towns. Ten spacious apartments were created in the largest original building, each with a kitchenette, living area, bed room(s) and private bathroom with showers. Three of the apartments have private terraces that open directly from thier living spaces. There is a laundry room for guest use on the main floor of the Agriturismo. Outdoor ammenities include a built in pool, a playground with swings and slides, a ping pong table, a small soccer area, bicycles for guest use, a barbecue area and the original wood fired pizza oven. Guests are surrounded by plenty of outdoor common spaces for relaxing in privacy. We offer the possbility of weekly stays or shorter stays. Guests may choose to have breakfast, which features tomatoes from our garden and home made cakes and jams, on our spacious terrace overlooking the vineyard. Our Restaurant is open twice weekly for dinner and during the summer months we fire up the pizza oven and invite everyone to mingle with a glass of the estate wine while building their own pizza. Cooking classes can be arranged for small groups and typically include a dinner or lunch which has been prepared during the lesson. Stefano proudly opens the doors of Muralia Vineyards to all guests with the possibilty of guided visits to the vineyards and cantina followed by a tasting of the Estate wines.
